My Computer Story

Eighteen months ago, I didn’t even know how to turn on a computer. Actually they terrified me.

All that changed when I decided to join the Beginner’s class at Mangrove Mountain Computer Club and my fear of this technical terror was totally overcome with the enormous encouragement and help from the teachers and fellow members of the Club.

My goal, besides being able to turn a computer on and send an email, was to catch up on the technological knowledge that had left me behind since my previous engineering training.

Having completed my beginner’s course at the MMCC, I then enrolled at TAFE for a CAD drawing course. Unthinkable 2 years ago!

This now enables me to use my recently learned skills in designing, ordering and completing jobs in my engineering workshop. It saves me a lot of time and I am now as up-to-date as some of the younger generation out there doing engineering work.

I am really grateful that I plucked up the courage to walk through the door at MMCC and begin this next journey in my life.

I encourage anyone to have a go. You would be surprised what you can achieve and the helpful people you meet there amongst a very friendly atmosphere.

I think that the MMCC is a great community building block and something that was lacking in the community for a long time.
